Superintendent

What an amazing community this is!

Serving as your superintendent over the past year, I’ve been inspired, gratified, and proud of the work that everyone on staff accomplished.  I’ve been so impressed with the spirit of this community and your school committee’s determination to power through whatever challenges are presented for the sake of our students.  When the narrative shifts from the adults to the students, school districts improve. That is what is happening in Scituate. The shift is being made to teaching and learning and what is best for students academically.  When that is the focus, things happen.

Let me run down a list of some of what happened in the last twelve months all in support of the students:

An administrative team, second to none is in place, which now includes a Director of Administration and Finance and a Technology Director; two curricula areas, one in Mathematics and one in English Language Arts were studied, recommended, and adopted by the school committee and will be implemented this year;

there is a beautiful new field and track at the high school, another much improved Manning Field, as well as improvements throughout the district at the buildings, e.g., new windows and bathrooms at the middle school and high school; we have brand new generators at the elementary schools; professional development opportunities related to curriculum and district initiatives were offered to teachers and administrators;

A user-friendly district website is now available; and, new chromebooks were distributed to sixth and ninth graders.

Today we all gathered for orientation day and are excited to welcome your children back to school.

I’ll be scheduling some coffee hours in the coming months and hoping that I will be able to meet more of you as the year proceeds.

Happy New Year!
