Class of 2025

Ava Pilderian

Elementary School: Hope Elementary School

Post-High School Plans: I will be attending Bryant University in the fall. I will be studying Politics and Law, along with studying Business as a minor. I will also be on the Track and Field Team.

Dream Job: I hope to become a Criminal Defense Lawyer, on the path to opening my own law firm with my brother. This field of work allows me to be the voice for those who may not have one within the legal system. A profession where I can provide to others and better their lives is one where I will be most happy!

Who was your favorite teacher or staff member during your time at SHS?:  It is so hard to decide! Mr. Bagley, Mr. Wentworth, and Mrs. Remka all come to mind. Each one of these teachers has had a great impact on my time spent in high school and have taught me a great deal about my education, but also about life as a whole. I had Mr. Bagley for English honors and my ELA lab during my Freshman year. He was also the teacher for my AP Language and Composition course my Junior year as well. Mr. Bagley always provided a classroom where I was comfortable sharing my ideas. He is also very wise. Mr. Bagley never failed to remind me that everything would work out and I just needed to take a minute to slow down and look at the positives. I have had Mr. Wentworth as a teacher since freshman year. I was in his freshman and sophomore HOSA class and I was also in his Medical Interventions class Junior year and Biomedical Innovations class Senior year. I have learned so much about the medical field throughout my time spent in Mr. Wentworth's class but I have also gained so much wisdom and knowledge on life as well. I know that if I ever need a good laugh, I can just walk into Mr. Wentworth's room. Mr. Wentworth is more than just a teacher, he is a mentor that I am beyond lucky to have had. Last but definitely not least, Mrs. Remka. Mrs. Remka has been the class of 2025 advisor since my freshman year. I will forever be grateful for our Freshman year health class where we first met. Scituate High School would not have the Spartan pride it has without Mrs. Remka. She has never failed to remind me to have fun and let loose a little. I have been beyond blessed to have a teacher who is more like a best friend than anything else.

What was your favorite class you took during your time at SHS?:  My favorite class during my time at Scituate High School would have to be AP Language and Composition. Although this course was definitely a challenging one, I have gained so much knowledge about who I am as a student. This course allowed me to discover new and uniquie topics while also enhancing my writing. This was definitely a course that helped me in the college application process and preparing me for the future. Along with the actual writing and workload of this course, being able to just talk to Mr. Bagley and hearing his wisdom and life experiences has benefited me immensely.

What advice would you give to next year’s ninth-grade students?:  I would tell next years ninth grade students to get involved and take advantage of every opportunity available to you. As a Spartan there is a wide variety of things you can do, from sports, to different clubs, and even different classes you may be unsure about taking. I always tell younger students to take a risk because you never know what you may enjoy if you never try. At Scituate it is so easy to be a leader. Taking charge and getting your classmates involved in all Scituate High School activities will enhance your experience here tremendously.

What makes SHS special?: The genuine connections you make at Scituate High School is what makes it so special. There is always a Spartan that you can count on, whether it is a faculty member or a student. Seeing familiar faces in the hallways is always a comforting feeling and one that fills Scituate High School. Each Spartan pushes one another to be the best individual they can be which creates a great environment that makes Scituate High School special.

What will you miss the most about SHS? :I will definitely miss the close friendships I have made at Scituate High School. The small classrooms has given me the opportunity to bond and create friendships with many different individuals. I will also miss the Spartan pride that Scituate is filled with, along with being able to walk through the hallways stoping to talk to anyone who wants to chat. The bonds and relationships that I have made with each faculty member and all the students will definitely be missed but something I will be forever grateful for.
