We would like to share an important update with you regarding the transition of central office leadership in the Scituate School Department. We are deeply grateful for Assistant Superintendent Noorbaloochi’s dedication and leadership, especially during this transition period. As she concludes her role on November 30, the School Committee has worked thoughtfully to ensure continuity and support for our students, staff, and the school community.

Since the Superintendent is currently on leave, this appointment is time-sensitive and essential to maintaining steady leadership across the district. The School Committee followed a streamlined and fully compliant process, supported by legal counsel. Members of the Committee, along with the assistant superintendent and principals, reached out to trusted educational networks for recommendations. After reviewing and discussing qualified candidates in executive session, the Committee returned to public session to finalize the appointment, unanimously voting to appoint Mrs. Linda Savastano to this role. Her first official day was Tuesday, November 18, 2025. We will be conducting a full and open hiring process for the permanent leadership position, consistent with our district’s standard procedures.

Mrs. Savastano will serve as the Acting Assistant Superintendent for Scituate Public Schools until June. In this acting position, Mrs. Savastano will lead curriculum and instruction and support the School Department’s operations until Superintendent Andries returns. This will ensure continuity, maintain momentum, and keep a strong focus on student learning and success.

Mrs. Savastano brings more than three decades of Rhode Island educational leadership and experience, including roles as a teacher, director of technology, assistant superintendent, superintendent, Strategic Planning Specialist at the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE), and, most recently, as an executive director in Providence Public Schools. She is also currently pursuing her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership.

We are excited to welcome Mrs. Savastano to Scituate and thank our community for their trust and partnership as we continue our shared mission: ensuring every student feels seen, supported, and inspired to succeed.

We would also like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving. We hope the holiday brings you time to relax and enjoy the company of your family and friends. We are thankful for the entire school community during this time of transition.
