Congratulations to SHS Teacher Tara Seger, who was the grand prize recipient for the Susan B. Wilson Civic Education Award last night! She was selected by the League of Women Voters South County for exhibiting extraordinary ability and innovation in her classroom.
“It is sincerely such an honor to receive the Susan B. Wilson Civic Education Award,” said Seger. “There are countless dedicated educators throughout the state of Rhode Island, the country, and the world that are deserving of such an honor. I deeply appreciate that the League of Women Voters has dedicated their time to recognize teachers who put their heart and souls into their work each day.”

Last week the Spartans had a win against Davies and another win against Johnston! We are so impressed by our Spartans!

Students in US History II Honors had the opportunity to speak to Tom Mellor, son of Don Mellor, a World War II veteran, who passed away this past June. Students were enthralled by his stories of the Pacific Theater and important life lessons. They also had the opportunity to read a primary source, his father‘s journal, before Tom came to speak to the class. Students had poignant questions regarding different elements of the journal. Tom Mellor was very impressed with the students here at Scituate!

Mrs. Dailey’s AP Calculus students began their study of volumes of figures with known cross sections by modeling solids based on the coordinate plane with Play Doh. They sliced the solids to demonstrate having achieved the appropriate cross sectional shapes, and wrote integral expressions to represent their volumes!

Mark your calendars, and get ready for our high school art show!

Civil Engineering and Architecture: In the beginning of March, the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) declared Simona Mancini's design of a 7-story multi-use building as the best in the state! Unfortunately, an awards ceremony could not be put together, so we had an improvised one in the engineering lab. 2022 podium finishers Nick Lupino and Gio Verducci present Simona with her award and check for $1,000! Congratulations Simona!!

Our Spartans had an amazing time exploring Spain!!
