Students in Principles of Biomedical Science were introduced to the topic of crime scene sketching! They learned how to draw to scale, create legends, and label evidence during the week. They created and sketched their own crime scenes and then met Anna Garcia, whose death they will investigate throughout the quarter!

We are excited to welcome new faces to the Scituate school community this year!

Meet Dr. Jessica Simonelli, she will be joining the Spartan team this year as the Speech-Language Pathologist for Scituate Middle and High School. She is committed to helping students grow in their self-advocacy and communication skills and fostering an environment of inclusivity and acceptance for all!

We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Quintin Nard, our new SHS Culinary Arts Teacher! He is a proud graduate of Johnson & Wales University with over a decade of experience in the culinary industry, Mr. Nard brings a wealth of real-world expertise and a passion for education.

We are also very happy to have Mr. Robert Anastasi who will be our new Head of School Counseling! Prior to his role as a school counselor, he taught both Art and Library Media at the secondary level, and is also a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC). Mr. Anastasi is excited to work with students and families to increase knowledge of college and career-related opportunities.

SHS Senior, Nettie Hartley, joined the Rhode Island Association of School Principals - RIASP Summer Conference yesterday to be part of their student panel. Nettie did a fantastic job representing Scituate High School and answering questions from Principals across the state. Principal Hassell also joined in on all of the summer conference fun to help host the panel!

On the last day of the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference, the Grand Awards Ceremony took place. Congratulations to Valentina Mancini for placing in the top 10 of the Clinical Specialty event! The SHS HOSA members also enjoyed some down time and were able to explore Nashville!

On day three of the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference, the last of our competitors took part in the Public Service Announcement, Health Career Display, and Mental Health Promotion events. Students also took part in workshops. The day ended with the Recognition Session, where Mr. Wentworth was awarded the Outstanding Local Advisor award!

Students were busy on day two of the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference! Students competed in events, were recognized for accomplishments, and took part in workshops. Congratulations to Hailey DeMerchant and Lauren Henault, who received gold level recognition for their work in the Health Literacy Ambassador event. Valentina Mancini was recognized in the HOSA Happenings event as well. Other members competed in Community Awareness, Research Poster, Health Education, and Clinical Specialty events.

Scituate HOSA members have wrapped up day one of the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference. Rhode Island HOSA received a membership increase award, and the Eastern Region won the HOSA Cup for the most membership growth! Our students attended the symposium, traded pins, and took part in the Anatomage Tournament. The day ended with opening session, and students were eager to take on day two!
